Woodbury reverse deficit to clinch victory

The Woodbury were challenged and were behind by 2-3 after two periods in the game against the Mounds Westonka/SWC. However, the change came in the third period and the game ended in 5-4 for road-team Woodbury.

The Woodbury were challenged and were behind by 2-3 after two periods in the game against the Mounds Westonka/SWC. However, the change came in the third period and the game ended in 5-4 for road-team Woodbury.

The hosting team took the lead early into the first period, with a goal from Sydney Leonard. Emily Wendorf assisted.

Four goals were scored in the second period, and the Mounds Westonka/SWC players led 3-2 going in to the third period.

The Woodbury players tied the score 3-3 early in the third period when Hailey Graunke scored.

The Woodbury players took the lead early in the third when Natalie Meeder netted one, assisted by Briella Huebsch.

Laini Gnetz increased the lead to 5-3 late into the third, assisted by Brooke Gnetz.

Sydney Leonard narrowed the gap to 5-4 only seconds later, assisted by Liz Callahan.

The teams play their next games on Saturday. The Mounds Westonka/SWC players will host the Northfield players at 3 p.m. CST at Northfield Ice Arena, and the Woodbury players will visit the Cretin-Derham Hall players at 7:30 p.m. CST at HealthEast Sports Center.
