GRAND FORKS — Add another Olympic medal to the list of accomplishments for former UND stars Michelle Karvinen and Susanna Tapani.
Karvinen and Tapani both scored goals Wednesday morning to lead Finland to a 4-0 win over Switzerland in the bronze-medal game at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China.
It marks the third Olympic bronze for Karvinen, who also won it in 2010 and 2018. Karvinen joins Grand Forks natives Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson and Monique Lamoureux-Morando as the only UND athletes to win three Olympic medals.
It's the second bronze for Tapani, who was on the 2018 team in PyeongChang.
Karvinen and Tapani played on Finland's top line and were dominant in Beijing.

Karvinen finished with three goals and seven points in seven games. She's one of just three Olympians to average a point per game in each of the last three Olympics. The other two are Canada's Marie-Philip Poulin and Rebecca Johnston.
Karvinen's 12 Olympic goals ties the country's record.
Tapani led the Finns in goals (six) and points (eight). She ranked third among all Olympians in goals in 2022. Tapani scored in each of Finland's last four games.
Karvinen played at UND from 2011-14, serving as team captain during her senior season. She racked up 131 points in 87 games for UND.
Tapani played at UND during the 2013-14 seasons, tallying 20 points in 24 games before heading to the Olympics.
Both Karvinen and Tapani play professionally for their old coach, Brian Idalski, with the Kunlun Red Star Vanke Rays in the top Russian league.
