Minnesota State won against the visiting Sacred Heart 5-1 on Saturday.

Minnesota State won against the visiting Sacred Heart 5-1 on Saturday.

The hosting Mavericks took the lead halfway through the first period, with a goal from Jamie Nelson. Taylor Wemple and Brooke Bryant assisted.

The Pioneers tied the game 1-1 late into the first when Cassandra Nevers scored, assisted by Rachel DeLong.

The Mavericks scored three goals in second period an held the lead 4-1 going in to the second break.

Jamie Nelson increased the lead to 5-1 early in the third period, assisted by Brooke Bryant.
