St. Lawrence Saints end five-loss run

The game between Mercyhurst and the St. Lawrence Saints finished 5-2 on Wednesday – no doubt a relief for St. Lawrence after five straight defeats.

The game between Mercyhurst and the St. Lawrence Saints finished 5-2 on Wednesday – no doubt a relief for St. Lawrence after five straight defeats.

The hosting Lakers started off strong and took the lead right after the beginning of the game with Vanessa Upson scoring 16 seconds, a goal assisted by Liliane Perreault.

The Saints tied the game 1-1 in the first period when Julia Gosling struck, assisted by Shailynn Snow and Kiley Mastel.

The Saints' Kristina Bahl took the lead halfway through the first period, assisted by Suyeon Eom.

The Saints increased the lead to 3-1 late in the first when Morgan Giannone scored, assisted by Julia Gosling.

Two goals were scored in the second period, and the Saints led 5-1 going in to the third period.

The Lakers narrowed the gap to 5-2 early into the third period when Marielle Parks scored, assisted by Mary Kromer and Jordan Mortlock.

Both teams will be back in action on Friday when the Lakers hosts RIT at 5 p.m. CST and the Saints welcome Dartmouth Big Green at 5 p.m. CST.
