Girls hockey: Lakers' season ends in Thief River Falls

The Detroit Lakes girls hockey team suffered a loss in the first round of the Section 8A tournament on Saturday in Thief River Falls.

THIEF RIVER FALLS – The Detroit Lakes girls hockey team’s season came to an end on Saturday in Thief River Falls.

The Prowlers (6-16-2) beat the Lakers (4-21) 12-1 behind a pair of five-point performances. Gretchen Cota scored a goal and recorded four assists, while Jaymin Klosterman scored twice and added three assists. Bella Amoit had a hat trick, while Kali Knutson and Jayden Breiland each had two goals.

The lone goal scorer for Detroit Lakes was Ella Larson. Emma Coley assisted on the second-period tally. Coley finished the season with 29 goals and 13 assists. She averaged 1.75 points per game to lead the Lakers in scoring this season. Adisyn Strand (16. 7 goals), Kaydence Thorsteinson (13, 7 goals), Haley Stattleman (13, 6 goals) and Ella Larson (10, 4 goals) rounded out the Lakers’ top five scorers this season.
