MASON CITY, Iowa — In the final game of a home-and-home series, the Mason City Toros snapped the Willmar WarHawks’ eight-game win streak with a 3-1 NA3HL victory Saturday at the Mason City Arena.

Mason City was able to exact revenge after taking a 4-0 loss on Friday in Willmar.

The Toros tallied the first two goals of the game. At 11 minutes, 37 seconds in the first period, Mason City’s Matt Kochonowski tallied his first goal of the season. Then at 2:27 in the second, Colin Hedland made it a two-goal game with his fifth of the season.

Nearing the end of the game, Willmar’s Patrick Wyers cut the deficit to one with his 13th score of the season. Wyers, a forward from Minnetonka, got assists from Collin Kerchoff and Michael Sweetland.

That momentum swing didn’t last long as the Toros’ Sota Isogai scored a power-play goal, his 20th score of the season, with 3:25 left to play.
