Girls hockey: Grand Forks starts fast, defeats West Fargo United

GRAND FORKS — The Grand Forks KnightRiders got off to a fast start, propelling the home team a 3-1 win over West Fargo United in girls hockey Tuesday night.

Shaley Richards scored the game’s first goal roughly eight minutes into the game. Annika Presteng added a power-play goal to give Grand Forks a 2-0 lead after the first period.

After a scoreless second period, Megan Jacobson sealed the win with a goal 24 seconds into the period.

Courtney Doctor recorded the only goal for West Fargo, coming halfway through the third. Madelyn Buchert totaled 35 saves behind the net for United.

Grand Forks improved to 12-8 overall. West Fargo fell to 8-11 overall.
