The Ohio State Buckeyes players started the first period strongly and tied the game at 1-0 when Sofie Lundin opened the scoring after just 5:17.
After that though, it was mostly about the Minnesota State Mavericks players. The Minnesota State Mavericks regained the lead after 11:59, and eventually pulled ahead with a 3-1 lead.
Kenzie Hauswirth scored in the middle of the second period, assisted by Lauren Bernard.

The Minnesota State Mavericks players scored again, making it 4-2 with a goal from Brooke Bryant after 2:18 in the third period.
But the Ohio State Buckeyes players made three straight goals and went from 4-2 to 5-4. The final goal came with 01.35 remaining in the game.
