The Purple Eagles took the lead in the first period, a goal by Olivier Gauthier.
The Purple Eagles' Casey Carreau increased the lead to 2-0 late into the first period, assisted by Josef Mysak and Chad Veltri.
The Purple Eagles scored two goals in second period an held the lead 4-2 going in to the second break.
The Mavericks' Jack Randl narrowed the gap again, assisted by Tyler Weiss and Jonny Tychonick at 7:06 into the third period.
