For the sixth time in the last week, a member of UND's 2020-21 hockey team has signed an NHL contract.

Senior forward Grant Mismash signed a two-year, entry-level contract Monday with the Nashville Predators, a team that selected Mismash in the second round of the 2017 NHL Draft.

Mismash joins senior forward Jordan Kawaguchi (Dallas Stars), senior defenseman Matt Kiersted (Florida Panthers), junior defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker (Ottawa Senators), junior goalie Adam Scheel (Dallas Stars) and sophomore forward Shane Pinto (Ottawa Senators) in inking pro deals.

Mismash's contract will begin next season.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound forward is coming off of his best collegiate season.

Mismash tallied a career-high 10 goals and 19 points in 20 games, despite missing eight games due to an upper-body injury.

The Predators organization currently has two former UND players in it: forward Rocco Grimaldi and forward Cole Smith, who made his NHL debut this season but is now in the American Hockey League.

Mismash opened the season by tallying 10 points in 10 games in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Pod in Omaha during the month of December. He had four multi-point games in the Pod.

The Edina, Minn., product and former Shattuck-St. Mary's player continued his point-per game pace after the Pod, but suffered an injury Feb. 12 against Denver. That injury kept him out of the lineup until the NCAA tournament.

Mismash returned for UND's first-round NCAA regional game against American International and scored a goal. In the regional final against Minnesota Duluth, he sustained another injury during the second period and was unable to play during any of the game's five overtimes.

During his college career, Mismash tallied 71 points in 117 games.

Although the NCAA ruled this year does not count against anyone's eligibility and the seniors are allowed to come back for one more season, it is increasingly looking like few, if any, UND seniors will return. Kawaguchi, Kiersted and Mismash have already signed. Collin Adams, a New York Islanders draft pick, is expected to get an NHL deal, too. Senior goalie Peter Thome has entered the transfer portal. The other seniors are forward Jackson Keane, who is drawing AHL interest, and defensemen Gabe Bast and Josh Rieger.

UND junior forward Jasper Weatherby, a San Jose Sharks draft pick, and freshman defenseman Jake Sanderson, an Ottawa Senators draft pick, have already informed their pro teams that they are planning to return to UND in the fall.
