BEMIDJI – The Bemidji State men’s hockey team is projected to land squarely in the middle of the pack in 2022-23.
The Beavers were voted to finish fourth among eight teams in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association’s preseason coaches’ poll released on Monday. BSU earned 51 points in the poll, trailing third-place Bowling Green (58) and ahead of fifth-place Michigan Tech (47).
Minnesota State (69 points, six first-place votes), Northern Michigan (61 points, two first-place votes) and BGSU round out the league’s preseason top three.
Bemidji State defenseman Elias Rosén was also named to the preseason all-conference team. Rosén, named an alternate captain for 2022-23, led BSU’s d-men with 26 points (7g-19a) in 38 games last season. He made the All-CCHA First Team for the second straight season and led all CCHA defenders with 20 points in 25 league games.
Minnesota State forward Brendan Furry and defenseman Jake Livingstone, Northern Michigan forward AJ Vanderbeck, Lake Superior State forward Louis Boudon and defenseman Jacob Bengtsson and Michigan Tech goaltender Blake Pietila join Rosén on the all-league preseason team. Furry was tabbed as conference Preseason Player of the Year, and NMU’s Joey Larson was named Preseason Rookie of the Year.

The Beavers begin the 2022-23 season with a home series against Arizona State Oct. 7-8 at the Sanford Center.
