The Wolverines started off strong and took the lead right after the puck drop with Mackie Samoskevich scoring in the first period, a goal assisted by Luke Hughes and T.J. Hughes.
The Fighting Irish tied the game 1-1 with a goal from Nick Leivermann late into the first period, assisted by Chayse Primeau and Trevor Janicke.
Four goals were scored in the second period, and the Wolverines led 5-1 going in to the third period.
Both teams were called for 10 penalties.
