Keller scores twice in Mankato East's win over Owatonna

The Mankato East defeated the hosting Owatonna 5-2 on Thursday.

The Mankato East players started off strong and took the lead right after the beginning of the game with McKenzie Keller scoring within the first minute, a goal assisted by Emmy Schulz.

The Mankato East's players Sydney Wang increased the lead to 2-0 late in the first period.

The Owatonna players narrowed the gap to 2-1, after only 29 seconds into the second period when Ezra Oien beat the goalie, assisted by Macy Stanton.

Late, the Mankato East players made it 3-1 with a goal from Ava Tibodeau.

Ava Stanchina narrowed the gap to 3-2 early into the third period, assisted by Kendra Bogen.

Emmy Schulz increased the lead to 4-2 four minutes later, assisted by Ashley Fischer.

McKenzie Keller increased the lead to 5-2 six minutes later, assisted by Jillian Borgmeier and Jessica Eykyn.

The teams play their next games on Tuesday. The Owatonna players will host the Rochester Century players at 7:30 p.m. CST at Rochester Recreation Center, and the Mankato East players will visit the Northfield players at 7:15 p.m. CST at All Seasons Arena.
