After Friday night’s game-one overtime win, it looked like the Blizzard were on the fast track to upsetting top-seeded North Iowa. But the Bulls proved why they were the best club in the West Division by winning two division games to end Alexandria’s season.
North Iowa forward Jac Triemert scored a pair of goals to lift the Bulls over the Blizzard 3-1. Caleb Strong was the lone goal-scorer to tie the game early in the second period with assists from Nikolai Rajala and Sean Kenny. However, North Iowa’s Garrett Freeman regained the one-goal lead before Triemert’s second of the game late in the period.
Atticus Kelly had an impactful game in goal for the Blizzard. He made 40 saves in the loss while his counterpart, Carsen Stokes, stopped 24 shots for North Iowa.
