FARGO — Moorhead's Matt Cullen joined the ownership group of the Fargo Force Academy, which will be renamed the Cullen Force Academy, a Thursday press release announced.
The Cullen Force Academy is based out of Farmers Union Insurance Center, attached to Scheels Arena, home of the Fargo Force USHL team. On-ice and off-ice training are offered for hockey players of all ages. For more information, including programming, dates, pricing and registration, visit fargoforce.com/hockeyacademy.
Cullen is a Moorhead High School graduate. He played college hockey at St. Cloud State (Minn.) and played 21 years in the NHL. He finished his NHL career with three Stanley Cup championships and 1,516 regular-season games played, the second-most by an American player.
"I am thrilled to be joining the ownership group at Force Academy! This is the best and most complete skill development plan for the individual player I’ve seen," Cullen said in the release. "I’m fully committed to helping expand and progress the skill development programming here so our kids can continue to have the highest level of growth opportunities available to them. (Cullen Force Academy Executive Director) Josh (Bjorlin) and the coaches here have done a great job of developing a fun, competitive, growth-based culture here with the love of the game at the center of it."
