Despite an 0 for 7 performance on the power play, the Fargo Force punched in two goals in the latter half of the third period and defeated the Sioux City Musketeers 2-1 on Saturday at Scheels Arena.
Sioux City's Joel Maatta scored the game's first goal at 5:20 of the first and Musketeers goalie Alex Tracy and Force goalie Brennan Boynton traded saves from that point on.
The Force knotted the game 1-1 when Bear Hughes scored on assists from Cody Monds and Aaron Huglen at 12:52 of the third. Fargo's Matthew Crasa scored the game-winner, his eighth of the year, at 15:02 on assists from Grant Slukynsky and Jacob Braccini.
Boynton finished with 27 saves and Tracy stopped 29.
The Force, now with 44 points, maintained an eight point edge on Omaha in the USHL's Western Conference. Fargo plays next at Lincoln on Feb. 28.
