Casey Severo, Jake Dunlap and Jack Musa scored the remaining goals for the home side, while Team USA's goals came through Charlie Cerrato, Paul Fischer and Gabriel Perreault.
The Capitols dominated the first period, receiving goals from Tyler Haskins (2) and Jack Musa.
The Capitols then claimed three straight goals in the second period as the team increased their lead from 3-0 to 6-0 in just 7:06.
The Team USA narrowed the gap to 6-1 after Gabriel Perreault beat the goalie in the period.

But the Madison Capitols quickly scored two more goals in the third period, and broke the game open.
Paul Fischer och Charlie Cerrato narrowed the gap somewhat, but the Team USA didn't come any closer than 8-3. The Madison Capitols took a safe victory.
The Capitols were called for 14 penalties, while the Team USA spent 16 minutes in the penalty box.
The teams now have the chance to fine-tune their tactics, as they play each other again in the next matchup on Saturday, April 6 at 7:05 p.m. CST at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena.
