The Stars took the lead at 5:03 in the first period, with a goal scored by Noah Laba. Mason Marcellus assisted on the play.

The Stampede tied it back up at 6:07 of the period, after a Clint Levens goal.

The Stampede also took the lead at 11:11 of the period, after a Michael LaStarza goal assisted by Daniel Russell and Karsen Dorwart.

But the Stars made five straight goals and went from 2-1 to 6-2.

In the third period, Lucas Wahlin scored his third goal eight minutes into the third period, assisted by Joey Pierce, increasing the lead for the Stars. The 7-2 goal held up as the game winner.

Both teams were called for 10 penalty minutes.

Both teams will be back in action on Saturday when the Stars host the Waterloo Black Hawks at 6:05 p.m. CST at Ice Box and the Stampede welcome the Sioux City Musketeers at 6:05 p.m. CST at Tyson Events Center.
