The Stars started the first period strongly and tied the game at 1-0 when Carter Schade opened the scoring after just 1:32.
After that though, it was mostly about the Black Hawks. The Waterloo Black Hawks regained the lead after 3:38, and eventually pulled ahead with a 3-1 lead.
But the Stars made four straight goals and went from 3-1 to 5-3. The final goal came with 01.26 remaining in the game.
The Black Hawks were called for 12 penalty minutes, while the Stars spent eight minutes in the penalty box.

Both teams are back in action on Friday, with the Black Hawks hosting the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders at 7:05 p.m. CST at Cedar Rapids Ice Arena, and the Stars visiting the Sioux City Musketeers at 7:05 p.m. CST at Tyson Events Center.
