Musketeers win at home vs Buccaneers

The Sioux City Musketeers won against the visiting Des Moines Buccaneers 3-1 on Sunday.

The Musketeers opened strong, taking the lead when Ben Steeves opened the scoring after 12:28, but the Buccaneers' Dovar Tinling tied it up after 17:03.

Tabor Heaslip scored at 3:30 into the second, assisted by Charlie Schoen and Dylan Gratton, to give the Musketeers the lead.

In the third period, Ben Steeves scored his second goal in the 11th minute of the third period, assisted by Grant Slukynsky, and sealed the win. That left the final score at 3-1.

Both teams were called for six penalty minutes.

In the next round on Friday, the Musketeers will face the Omaha Lancers road at 7:05 p.m. CST at Liberty First Credit Union Arena, while the Buccaneers host the Lincoln Stars at 7:05 p.m. CST at Ice Box.
