The hosting team took the lead with a minute left into the first period, with a goal scored by Quinn Finley. Luke Mittelstadt and Ben Dexheimer assisted.

Capitols' in the second, Casey Severo scored a goal early into the second period, assisted by Barrett Brooks and Nicholas Wallace, increasing the lead to 2-1 for the Capitols.

Jack Williams scored late in the second period, to give the Lumberjacks the lead.

The Capitols scored again, making it 3-2 with a goal from Tyler Haskins after 54 seconds in the third period.

The Lumberjacks came back and made it 3-3 after Noah Ellis beat the goalie in the period.

In overtime, it took 15:22 before Joey Larson scored the game-winner for the road team.

The teams play again for Game 4 on Tuesday, May 10 at 7 p.m. CST at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena.
