The visiting Fighting Saints opened strong, as the game was just getting started with Max Burkholder scoring in the first minute, goal assisted by William Hallén and Max Montes.

The Gamblers tied it early into the period, after a Brody Lamb goal assisted by Kent Anderson and Cameron Lund.

The Fighting Saints scored again in the middle of the period, after a Tristan Lemyre goal assisted by Jackson Hallum.

The Fighting Saints also increased the lead to 3-1 late in the period, after another goal assisted by Stephen Halliday.

Late in the period in the first period Peter Kramer made his mark, assisted by Jarod Crespo and narrowed the gap for the Gamblers.

The Fighting Saints then claimed three straight goals in the beginning of the second period as the team increased their lead from 3-2 to 6-2 in just 3:34.

The Gamblers narrowed the gap to 6-3 after Luke Weilandt found the back of the net in the period.

But the Dubuque Fighting Saints scored two more goals in the second period to take a commanding lead.

The Fighting Saints took the lead 9-3 when Davis Burnside beat the goalie with 04.06 remaining in the third period and came even closer to victory.

Peter Kramer narrowed the gap somewhat, but the Gamblers didn't come any closer than 9-4. The Dubuque Fighting Saints took a solid victory.

The Gamblers were whistled for 27 penalties, while the Fighting Saints spent 38 minutes in the penalty box.

The teams play again on Saturday, April 6 at 7:05 p.m. CST at Mystique Ice Center.
