Fargo Force to play a home game across state line for first time since inaugural season in 2008
In addition to the location change, it's also "Cully's Kids Night" which raises money for the Cullen Children's Foundation.
FARGO — For the first time since the team's inaugural season in 2008, the Fargo Force will take the ice at the Moorhead Sports Complex as they face-off against the Sioux Falls Stampede on Thursday night.
The decision originally came due to limited ice time at Scheels Arena from all the events the venue hosts, but also serves as a big opportunity to build the relationship between the Moorhead and Fargo hockey communities.
“This is a unique opportunity for us,” said Force President Jon Kram said in a news release. “Fargo and Moorhead is a top-notch hockey community and we feel honored to play over in Moorhead, it’s going to be an exciting night!”
Not only are the Force one of the premiere teams in the USHL that produces top hockey players, but the city of Moorhead has also helped shape notable names in the game. Will Borgen, for example, is a former Moorhead Spud who went on the play at St. Cloud State University and is currently a defensemen for the Seattle Kraken in the NHL. Another Moorhead Spud who went on to have a successful NHL career consisting of three Stanley Cup wins is Matt Cullen , who joined the Fargo Force as a minority owner in September.
Cullen joining the organization has provided new opportunities for the Force, including the game played in Moorhead, incorporating "Cully's Kids Night," which is an annual event to raise money for the Cullen Children's Foundation. There will be a ceremonial puck drop, black and orange Cully's Kids jerseys, as well as Fargo Force and Cully's Kids merchandise.
Parking is free and seating for this game is all general admission, with kids tickets available for $5 and adults getting in for $10. One dollar from each ticket sale will be donated to the Cullen Children's Foundation. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. and will be available for streaming on FloHockey .
