CHICAGO — There are three new players who have been awarded USHL player of the week honors for the first time this season, but for the Chicago Steel, they have owned the forward of the week category four different times so far this season.
Michael Emerson (Chicago Steel) forward of the week
On Friday, Michael Emerson had a goal and two assists to help propel the Steel to a 6-3 win over the Gamblers. On Saturday, Emerson netted the first two goals of the night in an eventual 6-5 loss to the Capitols on Saturday. Through 13 games this season, Emerson is fourth on the Chicago Steel in scoring with seven goals and eight assists for 15 points.
Artyom Levshunov (Green Bay Gamblers) defenseman of the week
It was a big night for Artyom Levshunov on Saturday, as he put up two goals and three assists for five points in the Green Bay Gamblers 7-2 win over the Cedar Rapids Roughriders on Saturday. Levshunov leads all USHL defensemen with six goals, and is tied for second in points with 10.

Matej Marinov (Fargo Force) goaltender of the week
Making 21 saves in a shutout victory over the Tri-City Storm on Friday, Matej Marinov has been named the USHL's goaltender of the week. This marked his second career shutout and first of the season and he moves on to a 4-0-0 record on the season. Marinov is second among all USHL goaltenders with a 1.47 goals against average and a .945 save percentage.
Week 8 of the USHL season kicks off Friday with seven games on tap, beginning with the Dubuque Fighting Saints at the Youngstown Phantoms at 6:05 p.m. CST.
