Home-team Team USA was still very much in the game and winning against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders before the third period in the matchup. But then, Cedar Rapids made an effort and fought back to win by 8-2.

The RoughRiders started off strong and took the lead right after the beginning of the game with Ryan O'Connell scoring in the first period, a goal assisted by Dylan Hryckowian.

The RoughRiders' Ryan O'Connell increased the lead to 2-0 in the middle of the first period, assisted by Martins Lavins.

The Team USA narrowed the gap to 2-1 halfway through the first when James Hagens scored, assisted by Sam Laurila and Cole Hutson.

The Team USA tied the game 2-2 with a goal from Kamil Bednarik with a minute left into the first, assisted by Kristian Epperson and Christian Humphreys.

The RoughRiders scored two goals in second period an held the lead 4-2 going in to the second break.

The RoughRiders increased the lead to 5-2 early in the third period when Eric Pohlkamp netted one, assisted by Zaccharya Wisdom.

Zaccharya Wisdom increased the lead to 6-2 nine minutes later, assisted by Joel Kjellberg and Martins Lavins.

Dylan Hryckowian increased the lead to 7-2 three minutes later, assisted by Ryan Walsh.

JJ Wiebusch increased the lead to 8-2 just one minute later, assisted by Martins Lavins and Colin Grable.
