Will Smith will be the 14th member of his family carrying on the tradition of attending Boston College

Growing up in Massachusetts, going to the Beanpot was something Smith and his friends looked forward to and what made them fall in love with hockey. Being committed to Boston College, Smith will now get his full circle moment.

PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Growing up in Lexington, Massachusetts, Will Smith grew up going to the Beanpot hockey tournament each year, but only dreamed of playing in it.

"The college scene is huge out there with Boston College, BU, Northeastern," said Will Smith, of the two-round tournament that also features Harvard. "Going to the Beanpot was the kind of thing we all look forward to and love going to. That's one of the things that made us all love hockey."

Smith is committed to play college hockey for Boston College, and the ties the school has to his family run deep.

"Huge history there in my family," Smith said. "I'm the 14th person (to attend Boston College), my sister's there right now so I'll get to be there for a year with her. I'm looking forward to carrying on the family tradition."
