Michael Burchill never had a backup plan, it was always about hockey

"It's all I really wanted to do. I haven't even thought of anything else. This has had my whole love and heart since I was 2, 3 years old," said Burchill.

DUBUQUE, Iowa — When Michael Burchill was 2 years old he put on skates for the first time and never looked back. Fast forward to now, he is in his second season with the Dubuque Fighting Saints where he will become NHL Draft eligible in 2023. For Burchill, there was never a backup plan, it was always hockey.

"It's always been one of those things where it's always been this or nothing," said the Fighting Saints forward. "It's all I really wanted to do. I haven't even thought of anything else. This has had my whole love and heart since I was 2, 3 years old."
