Sharp shooting from Minnehan in Generals' win

The host Northeast Generals claimed two points against the hosting Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks on Sunday in their game. The final score was 8-5.

The Generals took the lead at 4:55 in the first period, with a goal scored by Paul Minnehan. Bryce Cooper assisted on the play.

At 14:04 in the first period Gabe Dombrowski scored a goal, assisted by Mike Salandra and Roberts Andersons and narrowed the gap for the Hat Tricks.

The Generals increased the lead to 3-1 at 16:02 of the period, after a David Tolan goal assisted by David Andreychuk.

Hat Tricks' Mike Salandra made it 3-2 at 17:44 with a goal, assisted by Gabe Dombrowski and Boris Skalos.

The Hat Tricks tied it back up at 19:43 of the period, after a Jake Howard goal assisted by Boris Skalos and Mike Salandra.

The Generals scored again, making it 4-3 with a goal from Paul Minnehan after 2:07 in the second period.

But the Northeast Generals scored two more goals in the second period to take a commanding lead.

The Generals took the lead 7-4 when Ryan Gordon beat the goalie with 06.05 remaining in the third period and took firm control of the game.

The Hat Tricks closed the gap to 7-5 with a goal from Mike Salandra with just three minutes left on the clock, adding some tension late in the game.

The Generals managed to decide the game 8-5 with 01.51 left when Alex Krause found the back of the net.

The Hat Tricks were whistled for just four penalty minutes, while the Generals spent eight minutes in the penalty box.

The Hat Tricks play the Maine Nordiques away on Friday at 2 p.m. CST at Danbury Ice Arena. The Generals will face the Maine Nordiques at home on Sunday at 4 p.m. CST at New England Sports Village.
