The Nordiques opened strong, taking the lead when Kellen Murphy scored the first goal after 4:16, but the Generals' Jared Scott tied it up just one minute later.

The Generals quickly scored two more goals in the second period to take a commanding lead.

The Nordiques narrowed and then closed the gap at 3-3 with goals from Hallberg Henrik and Laurent Trepanier in the second period.
