Mudbugs win on road against Wranglers

The Shreveport Mudbugs won a road game against the Amarillo Wranglers 6-2 on Saturday.

The visiting Mudbugs started off sharp and took the lead right after the puck drop with Burke Simpson scoring at 2:52, goal assisted by Austin Brimmer and Evan Mitchell.

The Wranglers tied it back up at 7:15 of the period, after a Tommy Chunchukov goal assisted by Aidan Carney and Kyle Demarco.

The Wranglers also took the lead at 9:08 of the period, after a Drayton Todoroff goal assisted by Aidan Carney and Tommy Chunchukov.

Connor Gatto scored at 6:35 into the second, assisted by Austin Brimmer and Burke Simpson, to give the Mudbugs the lead.

Austin Brimmer made it 3-2, after a second-period goal at 8:38, assisted by Connor Gatto and Trenten Heyde.

The Mudbugs scored in the third, with three quick goals from Burke Simpson (2) and Austin Brimmer (3).

Both teams were called for eight penalty minutes.

The teams play their next games on Friday. The Wranglers will host the Lone Star Brahmas at 7:30 p.m. CST at NYTEX Sports Centre, and the Mudbugs will visit the Odessa Jackalopes at 7:15 p.m. CST at Ector County Coliseum.
