The Mudbugs opened strong, as the game was just getting started with Garrett Steele scoring at 3:34, goal assisted by Jacob Onstott and Carter Green.
The Mudbugs made it 2-0 with a goal from Timofei Khokhlachev with 02.17 remaining in the second period and came even closer to victory.
Sully Scholle narrowed the gap somewhat, but the Ice Wolves didn't come any closer than 2-1.
The third period was scoreless as the Mudbugs held on to their 2-1 lead and won.

The Ice Wolves were called for six penalty minutes, while the Mudbugs received four minutes.
The Ice Wolves play the Odessa Jackalopes away on Friday at 7:15 p.m. CST at Ector County Coliseum. The Mudbugs will face the Wichita Falls Warriors at home on Wednesday at 6:05 p.m. CST at Kay Yeager Coliseum.
