The Nordiques scored five goals in second period an held the lead 5-1 going in to the second break.
David Andreychuk narrowed the gap to 5-2 halfway through the third period, assisted by Paul Minnehan and Joseph Mcgraw.
The Generals' Paul Minnehan narrowed the gap again, assisted by David Andreychuk and Frank D'ancona at 17:53 into the third period.
The Nordiques increased the lead to 6-3 with 12 seconds remaining of the third after a goal from Anthony Achille, assisted by Alexey Yarmulnik and Sterling Wolters.
