Lone Star Brahmas win at home against Shreveport Mudbugs

The Lone Star Brahmas won the home game against the Shreveport Mudbugs 4-1 on Saturday.

The Lone Star Brahmas won the home game against the Shreveport Mudbugs 4-1 on Saturday.

The first period was scoreless, and, after only 41 seconds into the second period, the Brahmas took the lead when Matthew Macdonald scored the first goal assisted by Ivan Zadvernyuk and Arthur Smith.

Ray Murakami then tallied a goal early, making the score 2-0. Will Laychur and Ryan Comishock assisted.

Halfway through, the Mudbugs' Ryan Austin scored a goal, assisted by Eric Vitale and Logan Valkama, making the score 2-1.

Will Laychur increased the lead to 3-1 early in the third period.

The Brahmas increased the lead to 4-1 with 14 seconds remaining of the third after a goal from Johan Rosenquist.

The Brahmas travel to Oklahoma on Wednesday at 7 p.m. CST at Blazers Ice Centre. The Mudbugs host El Paso to play the Rhinos on Friday at 8 p.m. CST at El Paso County Events Center.
