One of the things I frequently get asked is “Did you grow up playing hockey?” To put it simply, no, but I really wish I would have. I didn’t come from a hockey family at all, and to be frank I didn’t start watching hockey until my junior year in high school during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I started to get into the game because around that time I decided I was going to continue my education at St. Cloud State University. I knew it was a hockey school and I would be covering the games during my time there. The rest was history.
I graduated from St. Cloud State with a degree in mass communications in the spring of 2020. In my time at the university I was heavily involved in our broadcasting department. I was a sports anchor and reporter for our campus TV station UTVS and I created and hosted a weekly segment for the WCHA Women’s Hockey League.
But the role I wanted was to be the rinkside reporter for the St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey program. In my junior year of college I auditioned and finally got my opportunity, and that changed everything for me. I was fortunate to hold that position for two years, and our student run production Husky Productions had our broadcasts air on Fox9+ in the Twin Cities as well as on Fox Sports North.
One of my favorite hockey memories was when Hockey Day Minnesota was held in St. Cloud. I not only covered part of the event in the days leading up to the big day at Lake George, but I also worked my first broadcast on Fox Sports North covering the St. Cloud State Huskies game against the Minnesota State Mavericks.
I have just over six years of experience covering the great game of hockey, and before joining The Rink Live, I worked for the Minnesota Wild as an In-Arena host and was the host of a show called “Wild Amplified.” My favorite thing about the game and working with The Rink Live is getting to meet all of the great people around the sport and having the chance to tell their stories. I also love to travel, so it’s an added bonus that I get to go to new places and new rinks as part of the job.

Outside of hockey, I have a four year old labrador mix named Bodie who is my world. I also love to be outside and go on hikes and be at the lake whenever I get the chance. Even when I’m not on the job, I love to write and tell stories through personal projects.
