GRAND FORKS — Grand Forks Central jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, as the Knights defeated Fargo Davies 5-2 on Tuesday in East Region boys hockey.
Braden Panzer scored two first-period goals to put Central ahead early. Barron Stibbe found the back of the net for Davies in the second period to cut it to 2-1, but Central answered with goals by Dominic Gerszewski and Chase Spicer. Hunter Demers added a goal for the Eagles in the third period. Gerszewski buried an empty-netter just before the final horn to seal it for the Knights.
Davies goalie Trent Wiemken tallied 34 saves. Central had a 38-17 shots-on-goal edge.
GFC improved to 3-0 this season, while Davies fell to 2-1.
