A trio of local boys hockey players were selected in the North American Hockey League Draft on Tuesday afternoon.

Grand Forks Red River graduate Tyler Savage was picked in the second round, No. 31 overall, by the New Mexico Ice Wolves. Savage, a 2019 high school graduate, spent last season with Estevan in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Savage, a forward, had 14 goals and 42 points in 51 games for Estevan.

Grand Forks Central graduate William Lawson-Body was picked in the second round, No. 37 overall, by Wichita Falls (Texas). Lawson-Body, a forward, had 21 goals and 49 points in 27 games as a senior for the Knights.

East Grand Forks Senior High graduate Mason Poolman was picked in the fifth round, No. 126 overall, by the Austin (Minn.) Bruins. Poolman, a forward, scored nine goals and tallied 27 points in 25 games as a senior for the Green Wave. Poolman's older brother, Tucker, who now plays for the Winnipeg Jets, played one season in the NAHL with Wichita Falls.

The NAHL is a junior hockey league featuring players age 16-21.
