A day after struggling offensively in a loss to Fargo South/Shanley, Fargo Davies took out its frustrations on West Fargo.

The No. 3 Eagles triggered running time thanks to strong special teams and a balanced offense in a 9-1 win over No. 5 West Fargo in a state qualifier of the East Region tournament Saturday at Purpur Arena.

"I think we just moved the puck better," Davies coach Nate Metcalf said. "Yesterday, we were a little selfish. Today, we used all our lines and got our d-men involved. It worked out for us."

Senior forward Tyler Corbid had a hat trick, while six other players scored for the Eagles, who swept the season series with the Packers.

"I just told the guys in the locker room that Monday is a new season again," Metcalf said. "We have to reset. Everyone is 0-0."

Davies will be the No. 4 seed in next weekend's state tournament in Fargo. The Eagles will play the West Region winner at noon Thursday at Scheels Arena.

Davies' Gavin Balvitsch and Conner Turnquist scored first-period goals to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead at the first intermission.

West Fargo's lone goal came early in the second period on a power-play goal by Colten Bossert. But the one-goal game didn't last long.

Just a little more than two minutes after Bossert's goal, Corbid scored his first of two second-period goal to push the lead back out to a comfortable margin.

The Eagles piled it on in the third. Tristan Dauner, Christian Kankelfritz, Cameron Bullinger, Corbid and Jackson Archbold scored in the third period.
