FARGO — No. 3 seed Fargo Davies scored two goals in the opening period on its way to a 4-1 victory over sixth-seeded Fargo North on Tuesday in the opening round of the North Dakota East Region hockey tournament at Scheels Arena.

Dylan Jensen led the Eagles with two goals. Jackson Bellerud and Tyler Corbid added a goal for Davies. Eagles goalie Trent Wiemken tallied 14 saves.

Nathaniel Fritel scored the Spartans’ lone goal.

Davies (18-4) has won nine consecutive games and will play No. 2 Fargo South-Shanley in the championship semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Grand Forks’ Purpur Arena.

North (9-11-2) is slated to face No. 7 seed Grafton-Park River in the consolation semis at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Purpur Arena.

Fargo South-Shanley 8, Grafton-Park River 2

FARGO — No. 2-seeded South-Shanley breezed by No. 7 Grafton-Park River in the East Region quarterfinals at Scheels Arena.

Drew Sandy had a hat trick to lead South-Shanley.

The Bruins (17-4-1) have won six in a row and advanced to play No. 3 Fargo Davies at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Purpur Arena in the championship semifinals.

The Spoilers (5-16-1) will play No. 6 Fargo North in the consolation semis at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Purpur Arena.

Grand Forks Central 8, Devils Lake 0

GRAND FORKS — Top-seeded Central cruised to a shutout victory over No. 9 Devils Lake, pushing its winning streak to seven games in the first round of the East Region tournament.

William Howard and Blaise Miller each scored two goals to lead the Knights. Miller also dished out two assists. Central had a 62-11 advantage in shots on goal.

The Knights (19-3) advanced to play rival fourth-seeded Grand Forks Red River at 4 p.m. Friday in the championship semifinals at Purpur Arena.

Devils Lake (3-19-1) will play No. 5 seed West Fargo in the consolation semis at 11 a.m. Friday at Purpur Arena.
