FARGO — Fargo Davies goalie Trent Wiemken had a 32-save shutout to help lead the Eagles to a 2-0 win over Grand Forks Red River on Thursday in East Region boys hockey at Scheels Arena.
Davies (17-4, 12-4 East Region) has won eight games in a row and shut out its opponents in three of the last five games. It was Wiemken's second straight shutout and third this season.
Austin Schmidt scored in the first period on an assist from Dylan Jensen. Jackson Bellerud gave Davies a 2-0 advantage in the second period on a feed from Jaiden Yaeger. That two-goal cushion was more than enough for Wiemken to preserve the Eagles' lead.
Goalie Nick Anlonenko made 34 saves for the Roughriders (12-7-2, 11-4-1).
