WILLMAR — The Willmar boys hockey team out-shot Prairie Centre, 43-22. But the North Stars got the victory over the Cardinals, 4-1 Monday night at the Willmar Civic Center.
Brady Swanson scored at 2:37 of the first period for Prairie Centre. Willmar tied it up when Ethan Stark scored at 9:28 of the second period off an assist by Devin Sankey.
Prairie Centre scored the next three goals. Brady Cline put the North Stars up at 13:18 of the second period.
Prairie Centre then got back-to-back goals from Dusan Holly and Ian Gould 24 seconds apart at 11:06 and 11:30 in the third period to put this one out of reach for the Cardinals.
Isaiah DeFoe stopped 42 of 43 shots to earn the victory.
Willmar closes the regular season when it hosts Worthington at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Along the way, Austin Jozwick scored a pure hat trick, tallying three straight goals in the first period when the Tigers took a 3-0 lead. Jozwick also scored an empty-netter at 16:59 of the third period to seal the victory.
