BUFFALO, Minn. — The Moorhead Spuds girls hockey team conceded a pair of third period goals to tie Buffalo 2-2 Friday night in Minnesota girls hockey.
Maiah Aanenson and Bria Holm each found the back of the net in the opening period to give Moorhead a 2-0 lead. Elise Stromme provided assists on both of the goals.
The two sides played to a scoreless second period, with the Spuds seeking to seal the win in the final frame. The hosts had different ideas, however. Nikki Wilson scored a power-play goal and within four minutes later, Raegan Wurm followed to tie the score.
The Bison (7-8-2) nearly tripled Moorhead's shot total, outshooting the Spuds 35-13. Goalie Haleigh Storbakken turned in a solid performance with 33 saves for the Spuds.
The Spuds (6-9-1) will visit the Twin Cities to face Minneapolis at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, at the outdoor North Dale Recreation Center in St. Paul.
