OAKDALE, Minn. — Now that the 2021-2022 girls hockey season has come to a close, the annual Ms. Hockey and Senior Goaltender of the Year awards finalize the season.
The 2022 Ms. Hockey winner is senior defender Vivian Jungels of Edina.
Jungels was an integral part of the Hornets' success the past few years and is the current record holder of the highest scoring defender in Edina girls hockey history.
Jungels won the state title with the Hornets her freshman and junior years, took second place her sophomore year, and her team took third place in the state tournament this year.
She will be continuing her hockey career next year at the University of Wisconsin.

Jungels' ended the season with 48 points in 30 games (16 goals, 32 assists).
Maggie Malecha of Northfield won the Senior Goaltender of the Year award, also announced Sunday.
Malecha helped the Raiders finish their season this year with a 19-7-3 overall record, along with winning a section title and making a state tournament appearance.
Malecha finished the year with an impressive .938 save percentage and a goals against average of 1.66.
During her time at Northfield, Malecha also posted even higher statistics in her sophomore and junior years, with save percentages of .944 and .954.
She will continue her hockey career at St. Thomas.
