The Alexandria Blizzard fought tooth and nail with the Willmar WarHawks but fell in the end. The score was tied at two, heading into the third and final frame.
With third period goals by Blake Keller (1:44) and by Anthony Foster (19:19), Willmar defeated Alexandria 4-2 on Saturday.
Alexandria got on the board first with a goal by Ethan Moerke a minute into the game on an assist by Erick Sanborn and Kaden Peterson.
After Willmar tied it early in the second, Wyatt Johnson scored his fifth goal of the season on an assist from Alex Heidenrich and Gavin Carlson (10:22).
Foster scored his first goal of the game (18:45), which tied the game before the end of the second frame.

Willmar had a 46-35 shot on goal advantage. In the final frame, Willmar had an 18-9 shot on goal advantage.
The Blizzard are 1-5 so far this season against the WarHawks. The WarHawks have won their last nine out of 10 games.
Coming into Saturday’s contest, the Blizzard had won four of their last five. The Blizzard have another crack at the WarHawks on Tuesday on the road at 7:10 p.m.
The WarHawks (28-14-1) are third in the NA3HL West Division, while the Blizzard are fourth (23-19-1). Both have clinched a playoff spot.
