DULUTH — The 2022-23 Minnesota Duluth men’s and women’s hockey schedules are once again bumping the Section 7A and 7AA boys high school hockey semifinals at Amsoil Arena in Duluth from their traditional Super Saturday time slots in 2023.
Because the Bulldogs men are hosting an NCHC series with Miami the weekend of Feb. 24-25, and the UMD women could be hosting a best-of-three WCHA quarterfinal series that weekend as well, the 7A semifinals will be played on the evening of Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023. Game times are tentatively set for 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 .
The 7AA semifinals will still be played on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, however, those games will be squeezed in between Game 2 of the UMD women’s playoff series (tentatively scheduled for noon) and the UMD men’s NCHC game against Miami (tentatively at 8 p.m.), creating a high school and college quadruple-header that Saturday at Amsoil Arena instead of a high school quadruple-header.
Should the Bulldogs women not finish in the top four of the WCHA in 2022-23 and have to go on the road for the WCHA quarterfinals — something that has happened just once, in 2016 — then the 7A games would be held on Friday, creating high school/college tripleheaders on Feb. 24-25.
The Section 7A semifinals were held on Friday and the Section 7AA semifinals on Saturday in 2022 because of a WCHA quarterfinal series between the Bulldogs and Minnesota State. That series went to three games, resulting in seven games in three days at Amsoil Arena.

The final weekend of February in 2023 could feature eight games in three days, or nine games in four days if the Bulldogs’ WCHA playoff series goes three games.
