First win of the season for Saint Mary's Cardinals

The Saint Mary's Cardinals have had a rough ride this season, but after seven games their first win finally came on the road against the Augsburg Auggies. Saint Mary's won the game 4-2.

The Saint Mary's Cardinals have had a rough ride this season, but after seven games their first win finally came on the road against the Augsburg Auggies. Saint Mary's won the game 4-2.

The visiting team took the lead early into the first period, with a goal from Teagan Phillips. Taryn Dornseif assisted.

Taverie Sherner scored early in the second period, assisted by Ella Ausman and Katie Pierpont.

Late, the Auggies' Emily Cronkhite scored a goal, assisted by Kennedy Stein, making the score 2-1.

The Auggies tied the score 2-2 within the first minute when Nora Stepan netted one, assisted by Sydney Rydel and Emily Cronkhite.

The Cardinals took the lead, after only 29 seconds into the third period when Sidney Polzin found the back of the net, assisted by Ellie Hegdahl.

Allie Urlaub increased the lead to 4-2 late into the third period, assisted by Kennedy Kraus and Leah Parker.

It means that the Cardinals finally ended their run of consecutive defeats – the count halted at six.
