ST. CLOUD, Minn. — In the NCHC, each team has a "rival" opponent, someone that they are guaranteed to play four times every regular season. The St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth men's hockey teams are each other's dance partners in this scenario, but with the coronavirus pandemic in 2020-21, the two teams are playing one another six times.
Saturday was the first meeting of the two teams and UMD beat SCSU 4-3 in overtime. Reporters Matt Wellens and Mick Hatten talk about the first game of the series and take a look ahead to what we may see in Game 2 when the teams play at 4:07 p.m. Sunday at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
