ST. CLOUD, Minn. — The third group for the Huskies Hockey Happy Hour video podcast includes four players who played on the first St. Cloud State men's hockey team to play in an NCAA Division I playoff game in 11 seasons and a 10-year NHL veteran. Defenseman Mike Pudlick, forward Nate DiCasmirro, forward Mike Walsh and forward Brandon Sampair all played on the 1999-2000 team that reached the NCAA playoffs. Matt Hendricks played four seasons for the Huskies, then six seasons in the minor leagues before playing 10 seasons in the NHL.
The players reunite from their homes in Minnesota and Austria.
DiCasmirro played forward for the Huskies from 1998-200s. In 147 career college games, he had 51 goals, 85 assists, 136 points and 156 penalty minutes. On the program's career lists, he is eighth in assists and 10th in points. He went on to play eight seasons in the American Hockey League before playing professionally in Italy and Austria before retiring in 2019. He is now working as a coach in Austria.
Hendricks played forward for the Huskies from 2000-04. In 153 career games, he had 54 goals, 58 assists, 112 points and 193 penalty minutes. He is 25th on the program's career points list. Since retiring from the NHL in 2019, Hendricks has been working in player development for the Minnesota Wild.
Pudlick played defense for the Huskies from 1998-2000. In 77 career games, he had 21 goals, 34 assists, 55 points and 139 penalty minutes. In 2000, he became the first St. Cloud State defenseman to be named to the All-WCHA first team and an American Hockey Coaches Association All-America Second Team West selection. He played professionally in the AHL and Germany for seven season before retiring in 2007.
Sampair played forward for the Huskies from 1998-2001. In 145 career games, he had 49 goals, 80 assists, 129 points and 56 penalty minutes. He was an All-WCHA third team pick as a senior. On the program's career lists, he is 12th in points and tied for 12th in assists.
Walsh played forward for the Huskies from 1999-2003. In 117 career games, he had 10 goals, 18 points and 122 penalty minutes.
