Minnesota Duluth's men's hockey series this weekend at Miami has been postponed due to a combination of positive COVID-19 tests, contact tracing and quarantining within the Bulldogs program.
The series has been rescheduled for Jan. 29-30 in Oxford, Ohio, when both teams were to be on a bye. Puck drop for is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, and 4:05 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30.
This marks the second scheduling change for the Bulldogs after a positive test within the Colorado College program in November forced the shuffling of the NCHC Pod schedule at Baxter Arena in Omaha, Nebraska. The Bulldogs' schedule in the Pod was reduced from 10 games to nine as a second showdown with the Tigers was postponed to Thursday, Feb. 18 in Duluth.
The NCHC has now had six games postponed in three weeks since playing 38 games in 21 days in December in Omaha, with three teams — Nebraska Omaha, Denver and UMD — having a positive COVID-19 test within their program this month. Other programs, such as North Dakota, Miami and St. Cloud State, have previously revealed they dealt with positive COVID-19 tests prior to the season.
The Bulldogs next scheduled series is Jan. 22-23 at home against Western Michigan. UMD is then scheduled to play Miami on back-to-back weekends Jan. 29-30 in Oxford and Feb. 5-6 at Amsoil Arena.
UMD restarted its season with four games against St. Cloud State Jan. 2-3 and 8-9, winning the first in overtime before dropping the next three. The Bulldogs sit third in the NCHC standings — six points back of the league-leading Huskies — and are ranked No. 7 in the latest USCHO.com NCAA Division I poll.

Other changes made to NCHC schedule
The Bulldogs and RedHawks were scheduled to play on CBS Sports Network on Saturday night. That honor will now go to St. Cloud State and Western Michigan and the teams will drop the puck in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in that 6:30 p.m. time slot. Friday's game was moved to a 6:05 p.m. start.
A pair of West Division series are also being pushed back a few days this week as the Pioneers and Omaha complete the necessary steps in the NCHC's COVID-19 protocols following a positive test within the program. That creates a domino effect on next weekend's series.
North Dakota's series at Denver this week has been pushed back from a Friday-Saturday series to a Sunday-Monday, Jan. 17-18, series while Omaha's games at Colorado College will happen on Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 18-19, instead of on Friday and Saturday. The following weekend, Colorado College will play at North Dakota and Omaha will host Denver on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 23-24.
