The Purple Eagles narrowed the gap to 4-3 right at the start into the third period, after only 56 seconds when Jay Ahearn found the back of the net, assisted by Noah Carlin and Carter Randklev.

The Yellowjackets increased the lead to 5-3 within the first minute of the third period when Oscar Geschwind beat the goalie yet again, assisted by Brett Rylance and Nicholas Cardelli.

The Yellowjackets increased the lead to 6-3 with 28 seconds of play remaining in the third after a goal from Julius Janhonen.
