The top three seeds in this year’s NCAA men’s hockey playoffs went to Minnesota colleges: St. Cloud State, Minnesota Duluth and Minnesota State.

All had stellar seasons, which the selection committee rewarded Sunday night with top seeds.

The Rink Live covered watch parties at all three colleges, with links to the stories below.

Top-ranked St. Cloud State is headed to Fargo, N.D., for the West Regional and plays American International in the late game. Denver and Ohio State compromise the other teams in the regional.

Defending national champion Minnesota Duluth, which topped SCSU in double overtime Saturday to capture the NCHC postseason title, will be the top seed in the Midwest regional at Allentown, Penn. The Bulldogs will face Bowling Green in the first game. Quinnipiac plays Arizona State in the other regional matchup.

And Minnesota State, which won the WCHA regular season title and then pulled out a stunning victory Saturday against Bowling Green to win the conference postseason tourney, is the top seed in the East Regional in Providence, R.I. The Mavericks not only have to travel, but face hometown opponent Providence in the first game. Northeastern and Cornell are the other teams in the regional.
